Gene Aloise, Deputy Inspector General

Gene Aloise joined SIGAR on September 4, 2012. As the Deputy Inspector General, he oversees day-to-day operations and assists the Inspector General in executing SIGAR’s mission.

Mr. Aloise came to SIGAR from the Government Accountability Office (GAO), where he served for 38 years. In his most recent position there, he served as director in the U.S. and International Nuclear Security and Cleanup Team. He has years of experience developing, leading, and managing GAO domestic and international work. His diverse experience includes assignments with congressional committees as well as various offices within GAO.

Mr. Aloise has testified before Congress more than 50 times, and was responsible for hundreds of reports with recommendations that led to legislative improvements, improved agency effectiveness and efficiency, and identified more than $8 billion in savings to taxpayers. He has appeared on numerous broadcast news outlets, including CBS's "60 Minutes," CNN, BBC, and NPR, and been quoted frequently in The New York Times, The Washington Post and other major newspapers.

Mr. Aloise received a bachelor's degree from Rowan University and a Master of Public Administration from Temple University. He is also a graduate of the Senior Executive Fellows Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
